Will the post-treatment horrors ever end?
Kristen returns to the podcast with an update that includes broken ribs, another scan scare, and yet another move to a new home.
Hey y’all! In case you haven’t caught the latest episode on my update…I’m entering February with zero scans, treatments, infections! Woooo hoooo, baby. I truly just stood up for a happy dance and spin (with no falls).
It’s the first time I can remember in so long that I’m not recovering, taking antibiotics, checking constantly for test results or calling for an appt due to a physical issue. Just in time to turn 58, (and just how is that happening?) see the tulips and bluebonnets blooming and embark on a spiritual pilgrimage in Sripuram, India next month.📿 🔥 🙏🔱🧘🏻♀️Give me a clean bill of health and watch me fly.🦋👐🌷
Huge love and hugs
💗Kristen
What’s happening 🗞️
🍈🍈 Released last July, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) new guidelines (it’s a massive 54 page PDF) recommend that women should first undergo a breast cancer risk assessment at 25. For women considered at average risk of developing breast cancer, they recommend annual mammograms starting at age 40.
🍈🍈 Coming up on the podcast while we’re between seasons, we’re bringing you some different kinds of breast cancer stories. We’ll talk with Heather Salazar, President and CEO of Pink Ribbon Girls, a cancer nonprofit that provides support to women with breast and gynecological cancers. While raising her three young children, Heather heard that Alexis Preston, a 23-year-old single mom in her community, had stage 4 breast cancer. As Alexis was on the verge of putting her 8-month-old baby Lexi in foster care because she was too sick to raise her, Heather decided to adopt baby Lexi. Make sure you are following us on Apple Podcasts to be notified when this episode airs.
🍈🍈 Kristen’s friend Alicia was a labor and delivery nurse who now works in the infusion center after her own breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, and she’ll be our special guest for “Things You Need for Chemo.” We hope you don’t need to listen.

Kristen Update: The Last of the Post-Treatment Horrors and Indignities (We Hope)
On the heels of a brand new set of post-treatment horrors and indignities, Kristen returns to share the good, the bad, and the ugly, including why she moved *again* and how she ended willingly living with roommates at the age of 58.
Another podcast we ❤️
Laura Cathcart Robbins is a writer who found herself to be the only black woman in the room at Brave Magic, a famed writer’s retreat. After writing and publishing her “only one” experience in The Huffington Post, her DMs became flooded with people of all races, ethnicities, creeds, and nationalities who had felt “othered.” She started this podcast for anyone who has ever felt alone in a room full of people.
“I met Laura at a podcast convention and haven’t been able to get enough of her show. Scroll through and you’re sure to find one that changes your view on the world. ❤️” - Kristen
Things Kristen ❤️s Right Now
Cotopaxi has a beautiful mission and really fun and useful products. They make many things, but especially two things my inner child can’t get enough of—comfy shoes and a bag with perfect pockets and fun.
…and they are on sale❤️
The Ugly Company sustainable snacks
The Ugly Company sells delicious and healthy snacks and has a great mission. To fight against the growing problem of food waste, they make all of their products with the perfectly healthy and fresh, yet “ugly-looking” food that gets thrown out by produce companies.
Thank You
