Season 2 launch date, Great Pods feature, and more: Breast Cancer Stories Issue #1
Finally breaking our newsletter silence with all kinds of juicy updates
A welcome note from Kristen Vengler, co-host of Breast Cancer Stories podcast:
Oh hi! I’m so glad you’re here and trusting me with your time and energy. I immensely value and understand that both of these things are precious no matter where you are in the breast cancer process or arena. You’re here because you’re my relative that’s been bribed, my story resonated with you deeply, or you’re seeking a little more than you’ve found elsewhere. Our mission is simply to help others through the shock of diagnosis, treatment, and beyond. I’d love your feedback on our first (squealing in delight) newsletter. Enjoy. ❣Kristen
Here we go! Lots of exciting stuff in the works for ✨season 2 launch✨and much, much more.
What’s happening 🗞️

🍈🍈 The official launch date for season 2 has been announced. *drum roll* And it’s… August 25! Get ready to hear Natasha’s breast cancer story. Haven’t heard the trailer yet? Listen here.
🍈🍈 The negative impact of breast cancer treatment on the mental health of those diagnosed is more common than you know. Read more here: Big Surprise, Breast Cancer Treatment Causes Depression and Anxiety.
🍈🍈 Nutrition health coach and cancer survivor Clarita Escalante featured Kristen’s story on the Clarita Escalante Show.
🍈🍈 Kristen moved her goosebump-inducing storytelling from the mic to the keyboard in our recent blog. Read here how cancer has led her to change her outlook on life (and death).

Our latest episode 🎧
On the newest episode of Breast Cancer Stories, titled “If This Is What Kills Me, At Least I Lived a Good Life,” Kristen kicks off the episode with an unexpected (for all of us) and raw account of how rehab prepared her for breast cancer. We discuss thoughts of mortality caused by the pain and shock of treatment.
A few weeks before her final reconstructive surgery in a moment of darkness she candidly asks, “if this is what kills me, have I lived a good life?” Answering this question leads her to reflect on just how much her perspective has changed through this experience.
Kristen’s advice: If someone you love has cancer, or any chronic illness that transforms their life, giving them some grace and time goes a long way.
Another Podcast We ❤️
The Burn 🔥
We are living for the unfiltered truth April Stearns and the writers of Wildfire Magazine share on their breast cancer podcast The Burn. The engaging, niche subjects on each episode, the brilliant choices of guest hosts, and the idea of using writing as an outlet for the stress of diagnosis, treatment, and beyond … it's absolutely riveting and unguarded. A caution for anyone listening with kids around, this one can be explicit at times.

Wildfire Magazine’s Body Issue
“The body issue was especially beautiful and important to me because of the stories told in vulnerable pictures accompanied by soul-baring writings that resonate deeply and profoundly.” - Kristen
